Team Geriatric travel to France for the Lohéac Legend Festival

News

Landsail Partner, Tony Lynch flew the flag for the Retro Rallycross Championship at the inaugural Lohéac Legend Festival in France. Along with other Retro series drivers who made the trip to Brittany, Team Geriatric joined almost 100 legendary cars and drivers in a parade, allowing the team to show off their Landsail-branded, Team Geriatric Toyota MR2.

After the parade it was time for the main event, and while the focus was not on the results for Tony but on providing a show, this didn’t stop him from taking his victory in the first heat ahead of rival Terry Moore before the results were reversed in the second heat.

During the third heat, the team was hit with a mechanical problem to the Toyota’s shock absorber which took them out of the race. Undeterred, the car was fixed and ready for the fourth and final heat. With plenty of work ahead of him, Tony was able to make up several places, fast securing Team Geriatric a runner-up position behind Gary Simpson.

Happy with the results Tony said:

“The whole weekend was absolutely fantastic, and better than we could have ever imagined it would be,”.

“From the moment we arrived at the circuit, there was a real festival atmosphere and the organisers really pushed the boat out to make everyone feel welcome.

“The track was really enjoyable to drive and it was all about putting on a show for a bumper crowd. The result wasn’t important and it was a real honour to be asked to appear. Hopefully we’ll have the opportunity to return in future and do it all again.”
